The performance will feature the world premier of a new choral composition by New York based composer, Rachel J. Peters. Her composition “And Then” is based on Judy Chicago’s Merger Poem. The work was commissioned to celebrate the campus theme “Leading with Compassion.” The choirs of Bay Path will be joined by singers from area choirs, including the Voces Feminae, a women’s vocal ensemble from Mount Holyoke College, which will perform on the Friday evening performance.
Composer, Rachel J. Peters is featured as a Top 25 writer in the Directory of Contemporary Musical Theatre Writers. She is a Composer in Residence at The Coterie, a recipient of the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust and ASCAPlus Awards, and a member of ASCAP and the Dramatists Guild. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Music and Theater from Brandeis University. She continued her studies in New York earning a Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theater Writing from the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She is a frequent performer at venues in New York City and beyond; her work as been called “inventive” by the press.
